ETS is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 6th annual TOEFL® English-language Researcher/Practitioner Grant Program.

The purpose of the TOEFL English-language Researcher/Practitioner Grant Program is to enable practitioners to become involved in ETS’s efforts to promote English language learning, and to support education and professional development for English-language teachers worldwide through ETS’s assessments and services.

The main objectives of this grant program are:

  • to provide language teachers who have direct contact with English learners in classrooms with opportunities to conduct and collaborate in research
  • to accumulate additional information about the effectiveness of using TOEFL test scores for decision making in various contexts
  • to build a better understanding of the complex relationships among learner characteristics, English language learning environment and learning outcomes

The specific goal for the program this year is to compile data from diverse language learning contexts and to summarize these data in order to better understand the complexities of English-language learning and teaching.

3rd International Conference on Language Testing and Evaluation and the 5th British Council New Directions in Language Assessment Conference:

The call for papers is now open for the 3rd International Conference on Language Testing and Evaluation and the 5th British Council New Directions in Language Assessment Conference: The conference will be held in Shanghai December 2 and 3. The theme of the conference is: Connecting Assessment with Teaching and Learning. The conference is jointly hosted by the National Education Examinations Authority (NEEA) in China and the British Council.

The deadline for proposals is the 13th August 2017.

EALTA invites proposals to lead one of next year’s Pre-Conference Workshops preceding the 2018 EALTA conference at the TestDaF-Institut, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. The workshops run from Tuesday 22nd May, 2018 (2pm), Wednesday, 23rd (all day) to Thursday 24th May, 2018 (noon). The conference itself starts with the opening reception on Thursday evening and runs until Sunday 27th May, 2018 (noon).
